The Sun was shining Shining with dappled shadows Through the trees Across the green meadows I ambled on My whole world was mellow You could say in a dream Lost in a quiet reverie.
When I came upon A sweet voice singing Carried on the breeze The notes clearly ringing From whence it came I had to discover For it was yearning for A heart’s one true lover.
(Instrumental interlude)
All aquiver I quickened my pace All of the while Hoping for a sight of her face And there she was In a glade, shades of yellow Linking a daisy chain To her own sweet refrain My heart skipped a beat In a mysterious way And I choked on the words I wanted to say.
What was the matter? With a cry of dismay And no words to say She leapt to her feet And she ran away Leaving the strains of her song But she turned and smiled And then she was gone.
