STARS IN HEAVEN

Why are there so many stars up in Heaven
What makes them shine so bright?
Could they just be the souls of departed
Watching on a cloudless night?
Why are we downcast, on nights cold and soundless?
When clouds shield those stars out of sight
Is it the twinkle, or just pure and simple
That they sparkle and twinkle all night.

Are they just lost souls, adrift in Heaven
In search of a place they’d rather be
Are they just random, or folk in tandem
A part of a whole family.

(Instrumental interlude)

Why do stars disappear in the morning
And they’re no longer in sight
Why are they biding, could they be hiding
While the whole world is lit with sunlight
But come the evening, daytime relieving
Once more the stars shine so bright
As one after one, they slowly appear
To sparkle both yellow and white
Why does the moon come steal the glory
While crossing the Heavens in flight?
Though at first furtive, it becomes more assertive
Until we are bathed in moonlight
Then with the waning, without need of explaining
Everything seems to come right
As the stars again tremble and then reassemble
With the sounds and the music of night.

Are they just lost souls, adrift in the Heavens
In search of a place they’d rather be
Or some just waiting, with friends congregating
A part of the whole family.
Awaiting for you, waiting for you
Awaiting for you, for you and for me
