Anne’s Beautiful Song

I saw her standing there
When they opened the door
A vision so lovely
Across the ballroom floor
I remember the band playing a beautiful song
It gave me the courage
To stumble right on
Across the dance floor
I bumbled on.

She took my hand
We danced to that tune
Waltzed together
All round the room
I asked if she would come with me
And we drove through the country
And down on by the sea
Where the seabirds were soaring
When she said she’d marry me.

So all I had wished for
Had now come my way
And of course, it was
Such a beautiful day
From that day forward until eternity
I imagined that this was
How my life would be
My life was all I wished it to be

So you could have said that my life
Had become a beautiful song
A life full of magic
While the music played on
And I would count all of my blessings
The whole day long
Giving thanks to Heaven
Or was I wrong ….

For one day an angel came
And led her away
They said to a better place
But who could truly say
And I was pining there
With that beautiful song
So full of the memories
As the music played on
It held all of the memories
But the magic was gone.
