A Convict’s Folly

I woke up with the calming
Woke up with teary eyes
For home is where my heart is
And my heart’s been left far behind
Far behind through the storming
By a malicious tide
Carried in this sorry state
Carried in chains for ….
…my reckless pride

No thought for what awaits me
With you filling all my mind
He didn’t deserve you
A rogue and a knave
And so, I foolishly fought him
And wounded him grave
Challenged and fought him
All because your honour to save

But I can’t say ….
Say that I’m sorry
Was this then my folly
For she may never forgive me
Even forgive me
Sadly, weep for me
And now with eight bells’ tolling
Forlornly tolling
Tolling on my setting Sun

(instrumental outro)

Tolling farewell
Praying farewell,
Fare ye well to my cherished one

To my one, fare ye well.
