Weep for my Venezuela
Why are you all then, weeping with me
We saw the destruction, the terrible sight
When Fate visited you
That one tragic night
(Pause)
So many lives shattered
In those few minutes of terror
Left in their hearts an open sore
Festering evermore
A festering sore
(Brief interlude)
Houses in ruins, such a terrible loss
How do they recover
And bear such a cross
When sons lost their fathers
Fathers lost sons
Mothers missing daughters
Many, more, their loved ones
(Pause)
So, I weep for my Venezuela
For She was my homeland
Her once cherished earth
Hallowed place of my birth
(Pause)
Won’t you help me bring solace
To those who survived
And pray for wretched lost souls
The lost souls of those many who died
Weep with me.
