Where is the wisdom They didn’t teach it in school I learnt about history And playing the fool I learnt my arithmetic Algebra too
I was taught about manners And how do you do But when given freedom And a life course to choose Some slowly make progress But some surely will lose
(Instrumental break)
The getting of wisdom Is from the school of hard knocks From all your mistakes And frequent roadblocks Despite all your knowledge The road may be rough
For without wisdom It’s never enough Those who gain wisdom Can sail right on through And those left without it Well, they seldom do
(instrumental pause)
You slowly gain wisdom A defense from despair Though some will need help In guiding them there
Check out old Grandpa Asleep in his chair It’s true he can’t help you Indeed, he don’t care For all of your gadgets And technology out there
But speak of your heartache And built up despair Don’t be surprised If he has wisdom to spare To guide your path onward And ease all your cares
With a lifetime of wisdom That he’d be happy to share From a wealth of wisdom Stored away there.
