Long before the days of Rock and Roll Long before they had begun They played such things as a Glockenspiel When looking for some fun They even had an organistrum Though it sounded rather glum But over centuries they refined it A revival had begun
Now it was called the hurdy-gurdy With it came that hurdy-gurdy sound Crank it, crank it round Spin out that hurdy-gurdy sound
The whole world was embracing it The whole wide world astound Hurdy-gurdy was the coolest thing The coolest thing around So they watched for the hurdy-gurdy man Watched for him to come down Then there could be no excuse Not to let your hair hang down
Swinging on a Saturday night Giddy through ‘till the morning light Swirling, twirling round Swirling ‘till they all dropped down
Here we go on the hurdy-gurdy Here we go again Dancing with the Hurdy-gurdy girls In halls across the town
Whatever became of those Hurdy-Gurdy Girls What has happened to them Passing into history Then never seen again
Was it because there was some new flavour That took poor hurdy-gurdy down Who lost the Hurdy-gurdy sound Why did poor hurdy-gurdy drown?
