Fading Memories

I had a life
Lived it fancy free
Took no notice
Of those around me

I was in such a hurry
I had the whole wide world to see
No obligations
Along life’s road to hamper me
Thought it would be enough
Building memories
Lasting memories
To see me through

A life building memories

Look there
Why don’t you see
No young man
Standing next to me

Too late now
Waited far too long
To settle down
Raise a home and a close family
There to comfort me
Instead just memories
Full of memories
Fading memories

(Instrumental break)

Now there’s no one
No one left to share
No big family
To even care
Just a cold and empty house
Only shadows there
Asleep in a comfy chair
Alone with all my memories

Alone in an empty house
Along with my memories
Fading memories ...
