Our Southern Land

(Instrumental intro)

We live …
In this great Southern Land
From around the world we came

Over three hundred years or more
We sailed to this distant shore
To a land
Occupied since ten thousand years before
They say it was more ….

Together, they all paved the way
To where we are today
In this land of opportunity
A multicultural society
Of every coloured face
From every creed and different race
Who call Australia home
Our home.

(instrumental interlude)

At first, against their will in chains
Or escaping hunger pains
And they all now live as one
Under the Southern Sun
And behind the Southern Cross
For which they fought at such a loss
And so it was all done
For our freedom won
Building a better home
Not count the cost
For the old one they had lost

So it is our legacy
To watch our children grow
In prosperity.

Southern Land
This Great Southern Land
Our home in the Sun.
