There Never Was

(Instrumental intro)

I wish there never was
Any need for war, not anymore
Kept far from our shore
And there could be peace for evermore
A World as One
For all the generations to come
And there could always be
Global peace and harmony

A Brotherhood of Man
But there never was
Never, no never, not ever
If ever there really was

(Instrumental interlude)

And so we built a ‘Neverland’
If only land
Where they could be free
In a world of fantasy
That our children should never see
The stark face of reality
That awful reality

But now it’s come to be
Now everyone can see
The destruction
And the refugees
That is why there’ll always be
Father Christmas and the tooth fairy
And the good old Easter Bunny
All so real
In their sheltered world

But they never, ever were
Never really were
Just Fairy stories
To mask the reality

(Instrumental outro)
There never was.
