A would be hero once set forth Set out on his trusty horse Dreaming feats of chivalry And to find his Holy Grail Our would be hero while on his quest Very soon brought to test Vowed he’d do his very best Declared he would not fail
While our hero was on the trail He came upon this shocking tale It concerned a tragic Maiden fair Dragged off by her golden hair Dragged off to a Dragon’s lair
He cantered in with dash and dare Cried, ’Dear Lady – do not fear’
No sooner than he ventured near A hot flame scorched his rear The hapless hero fell off his horse For him things went from bad to worse ‘But kind Sir – I really like it here My darling Dragon is such a dear’
And so it was our hero limped off To find his horse Sent bolting from that fiery source Resolved to pursue his course
The moral of this story is crystal clear With a woman’s heart don’t interfere Still ever onward however he tried His quest for glory always denied
Ever onward, ever onward He went with dented pride A loyal squire still by his side But no matter how hard he tried That quest for glory was defied For no dragon had been slain And left with chagrin and his shame His tilt for love was all in vain
All in vain, all in vain
(Instrumental interlude)
My guess he was just doomed to fail There never was a Holy Grail Just a would be hero, would be hero “Wannabe’ hero.
